When Imperial forces attack the small border town of Bruhl, Welkin Gunther, son of late General Belgen Gunther, is forced to fight for his life alongside Town Watch captain Alicia Melchiott. Along with Welkin`s adopted sister Isara, the three escape to Gallia`s capitol and subsequently join the country`s militia forces. As members of the newly-formed Squad 7, they must work to repel the invading Imperial forces and discover the true purpose of the invasion itself.

Recommended if you liked the PS3 game, although it`s a pretty loose adaptaion (and the art is worst than the game itself)
Only if you are truly sure you want to see it. The game is waaaaay better.
As a fan of the game, I found this quite dissapointing. The anime remained fairly faithful in most areas that mattered, but the majority of the changes and additions made were either pointless or for the worse. While I was impressed with some of the extra development the characters on the imperial side recieved, I would`ve liked them to explore some of the less developed elements and character on the Gallian side, and the anime suffered from giving a rose-tinted, “anime-ised” take on war even more than the game. Overall it wasn`t a terrible show; the universe was well-concieved and intriguing, the music (which was mostly lifted directly from the game) was great, and the art style and animation were quite pleasant (even if they didn`t quite capture the look of the game). If you don`t have access to the game you could do worse than to watch this, but I`d have a very hard time recommending it over playing, or even replaying the game.

myself i enjoyed it from start to end.
I loved the game and this anime is decent. Anyway, I think something is missing in it. Battles are not enough intense, and the “love triangle” addition wasn`t the best idea.
I guess the worst thing is probably the 2nd opening which is a disappointing big spoiler…
Else, it was good enough.
Great storyline great animation
I think animes with so well bild character personalities are rare so this is definetly a must see! I can`t say it`s on pair with Code Geass but it`s not bad at all! I didn`t realy like when they cut the mind battles near the end of the story but it became much more epic so i guess it was ok
Great anime to watch. Related to the video game, Valkyria Chronicles.
I`ve never play this game before. For anime, I really enjoy while watching it. Nice story line. If you are looking for military & romance anime, this one is worth watching.
