* Based on a light novel series by http://anidb.net/cr6886 [Kamachi Kazuma], illustrated by http://anidb.net/cr6874 [Haimura Kiyotaka].
Set in Academy City, a city of scientifically advanced superhuman students, located to the west of Tokyo, in a world where magic is also real. http://anidb.net/ch2342 [Kamijou Touma]`s right hand, the Imagine Breaker, can negate all magic, psychic, or divine powers, but not his own bad luck. One day he finds a young girl, http://anidb.net/ch870 [Index], hanging on his balcony railing. She turns out to be a nun from the Church of England, and her mind has been implanted with the Index Librorum Prohibitorum â all the magical texts the Church has removed from circulation. His encounter leads him to meet others from the secret world of science and magic and right into an adventure where science and magic collide.
Touma`s unusual power then places him at the centre of conflicts relating magicians and science-based espers in Academy City. As Touma tries to help and protect his friends, he learns the people he knows are not quite what they appear to be. To make thinks worse he begins to attract the unwanted attention of powerful magicians and espers alike, as they try to unravel the secrets of Academy City and Index.

A very cool and interesting story with fun characters. Science vs Magic stuff can get pretty boring, but the way it is portrayed in this anime is pretty awesome.
I`m recommending it for sci-fi and shounen fans 🙂
I really enjoyed this series. The characters were not cookie-cutterish, and grew throughout the series.
I really like the show. But I wish it were longer though.
Expect some few disappointments for the first several episodes, after getting a jumpstart, prepare to meet the unexpectedly great plots and twists revealed on the mid-part up to the next seasons.
Appreciating this anime will be greater if one went through the process of reading the good amount of light novel of the same title.
Yeah, I can recommend it.
Very interesting and it was very action-packed, but the plot did jumped back and forth though. I did enjoy that because we saw from another character`s perspective once and we get to meet new characters (Misaka is an awesome character!). The series is worth the time putting into and I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did. 🙂
Very good animation, sound, and visuals
it would be nice to see a second one 😉
One of the best visuals I have seen in anime. The story is pretty engaging too.
Magic, Science, and Alchemy.
What made this anime worthwhile was last order :3
Actually I wasnt sure about this anime. But it has all, putting ecchi aside, what I need to approve that this one is pretty good. And its one 24 episodes series with a sequel, so definitely longer than most of the 12-13 ep animes.
Comedy 3/3
Story 2/3
Characters 3/3
Index was THE BREAKING POINT in anime. It combines so many aspects of genre into one action packed, thriller series! It has just about anything anyone could ever ask for in any story. Even for those in the minority groups! It has the thrill and suspense of a detective story, the action and heart of a sports film, perfect display of your typical herione, a sci-fi/fantasy setting, and even some echii comedy is thrown in the mix * nudge, nudge, wink, wink*. Index is unique, mind blowing, and will keep you on your toes. Truly a work of art.
Best special powers and magic combined show of the season.
It`s made of awesomness!!
